Terms of Service

1. What RivalWx Is

RivalWx is a weather prediction game. You forecast daily weather conditions for your area, and the App scores your predictions against actual observed weather data. You can compete on leaderboards, challenge friends, earn badges, and track your accuracy over time.

RivalWx is entertainment. It is not a weather service, and it is not a substitute for official weather information. See Section 9 for important details.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By using the App, you represent that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.

3. Your Account

Creating an Account

You can sign in using Apple Sign In or Google Sign-In. You'll choose a display name during onboarding — this is the name other players see on leaderboards and in head-to-head challenges.

Your Responsibilities

• Keep your sign-in credentials secure. You're responsible for all activity under your account.
• Provide accurate location information. Your prediction location determines which weather data is fetched and how your scores are calculated.
• One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to manipulate leaderboards, inflate streaks, or gain competitive advantage is prohibited.

Display Names

Your display name must not contain profanity, slurs, impersonation of other users or public figures, or content that is offensive, misleading, or otherwise inappropriate. We reserve the right to require you to change a display name that violates this policy.

4. Game Mechanics

Predictions and Scoring

You submit weather predictions during designated windows (morning and evening, with optional mid-day and late-night adjustment windows). The App scores your predictions against observed weather data sourced from the National Weather Service and other public meteorological sources. Scores are computed server-side — you cannot modify or override them.

Streaks

Consecutive days of qualifying predictions are tracked as streaks. Streaks require submissions in both the morning and evening windows. A missed day breaks your streak. Streak Freezes (available for purchase) can preserve your streak for one missed day.

Storm Mode

During active severe weather, Storm Mode may activate for one or more weather centers (Storm Prediction Center, National Hurricane Center, Weather Prediction Center). Storm Mode predictions follow a tiered structure (Day 3, Day 2, Day 1) with independent scoring. Access to certain tiers and centers may require a Premium subscription or one-time in-app purchase.

Leaderboards

Your display name, Forecast Accuracy Rating (FAR), mode, streak data, and city/state are visible on public leaderboards within the App. By using the App, you consent to this visibility. Leaderboard rankings are computed server-side every 15 minutes based on rolling 30- and 90-day averages.

Head-to-Head Challenges

You may challenge other players to 7-day prediction battles. Both players' predictions are visible to each other during the challenge. Challenge results, win/loss records, and H2H streaks are stored and visible on your profile.

5. Competition Integrity and Fair Play

RivalWx is a skill-based prediction game. The integrity of competition matters. You agree not to:

• Manipulate scores or rankings — including using automated tools, scripts, bots, or modified versions of the App to submit predictions or inflate accuracy metrics.
• Create multiple accounts — to appear on leaderboards multiple times, manipulate city/state rankings, or circumvent bans.
• Exploit bugs — if you discover a scoring error, exploit, or vulnerability, report it to us rather than using it to gain advantage. Deliberately exploiting known bugs is grounds for account suspension.
• Collude with other players — to artificially influence leaderboard rankings, H2H outcomes, or badge achievements.
• Submit predictions through unofficial means — all predictions must be submitted through the App's standard user interface during designated prediction windows.

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations, adjust scores or rankings that result from unfair play, and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. Subscriptions, Purchases, and Payments

Premium Subscription

Premium is available at $2.99/month or $19.99/year. Premium unlocks Expert Mode, Storm Prediction Center Day 2 and Day 3 prediction tiers, additional Streak Freezes, and other features as described in the App.

One-Time Purchases

National Hurricane Center and Weather Prediction Center access are available as one-time in-app purchases at $4.99 each. These are permanent unlocks tied to your account. Streak Freezes are available for $0.99 each.

Billing and Refunds

All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). We do not handle payment information directly. Subscription management, cancellation, and refund requests are handled through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings and are subject to the respective platform's refund policies.

Price Changes

We may change subscription or purchase prices with at least 30 days' advance notice. Existing subscribers will be notified before any price increase takes effect for their next renewal period.

7. Intellectual Property

Our Content

The App, including its design, code, graphics, animations (including the Stormy mascot), scoring algorithms, game mechanics, and all associated branding, is owned by Isobar Works LLC and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our prior written permission.

Your Content

Your predictions, display name, and gameplay data are yours. By using the App, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use this data to operate the game — including displaying your display name and scores on leaderboards, computing rankings, and generating anonymized aggregate statistics.

Weather Data

Weather forecast and observation data displayed in the App is sourced from public government services (primarily the National Weather Service) and community observation networks. This data is in the public domain or used under the terms of the respective data providers. We do not claim ownership of public weather data.

8. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers, databases, or networks
• Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the App through automated means
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
• Use the App to harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security features

9. Weather Prediction Disclaimer

This is important. Please read carefully.

RivalWx is a game. It is designed for entertainment. The App displays weather data sourced from the National Weather Service and other public meteorological services, but RivalWx is not a weather forecasting service, and it is not a substitute for official weather warnings, watches, or advisories.

Do not rely on RivalWx for life-safety decisions. During severe weather events — including but not limited to tornadoes, hurricanes, tropical storms, flooding, winter storms, and extreme heat — always follow official guidance from the National Weather Service, your local emergency management agency, and local authorities.

The weather data displayed in the App is provided "as is" from third-party public sources. We do not independently verify forecast accuracy, and we make no representations or warranties about the completeness, reliability, or timeliness of any weather information displayed in the App.

Your predictions within the App are game entries, not professional weather forecasts. The scoring and ranking systems are designed for gameplay and do not reflect the quality or reliability of any individual's weather forecasting ability in a professional or emergency-management context.

10. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Leaderboard rankings, scores, streaks, and badges may be affected by server outages, scoring delays, data-source interruptions, or bugs. We will make reasonable efforts to correct errors but are not liable for temporary inaccuracies in game state.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Isobar Works LLC and its officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data, streaks, badges, or game progress
• Inaccurate scores or leaderboard rankings
• Reliance on weather data displayed in the App
• Service interruptions or downtime
• Unauthorized access to your account

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising from or related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty dollars ($50), whichever is greater.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Isobar Works LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

13. Account Suspension and Termination

By You

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. All your personal data, predictions, badges, streaks, and H2H records will be permanently deleted. Active subscriptions should be cancelled through your Apple ID or Google Play settings before account deletion.

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in unfair play (see Section 5), or used the App in a way that could harm other users or the integrity of the game. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you, but are not required to do so in cases of serious or repeated violations.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Isobar Works LLC regarding your use of the App.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the App evolves. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of RivalWx after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
